Care home training that keeps you CQC ready
Running a compliant care home means keeping every member of staff trained, and keeping the records to prove it. The Care Quality Commission expects providers to give staff the right training for their roles, refreshed regularly, and an inspection can ask to see the evidence at any time. We deliver the full range of mandatory and specialist care home training, from moving and handling and safeguarding to first aid, medication awareness and dementia care. Our trainers come to your home, work around your shift patterns and tailor the content to the people you support, so your team is confident on the floor and your training matrix stands up to scrutiny.
What training is mandatory for care home staff?
Care providers must make sure staff are trained in the core areas that keep residents safe. In practice that usually includes safeguarding, moving and handling, basic life support and first aid, fire safety, infection control, medication awareness, the Mental Capacity Act and equality and diversity, alongside role specific training such as dementia or end of life care. The exact mix depends on your service and the needs of your residents. We can map your training matrix against CQC expectations and deliver everything you need from a single provider. For a fuller breakdown, read our guide to mandatory training for care home staff.
On-site care home training, delivered around your rota
We train your team at your home anywhere in the UK, which avoids the cost and disruption of sending staff off site. Courses can run for new starters, as annual refreshers, or as a full programme that brings a whole home up to date. Every learner receives a recognised certificate for your records, and we can deliver several subjects across a single visit to make the most of your time. Because we cover physical intervention, mental health and first aid as well as core care subjects, you can use one trusted provider for the whole picture. Tell us your numbers and your priorities and we will build a plan.

FAQ
What training is mandatory for care home staff?
Care providers must train staff in the core areas that keep residents safe. This usually includes safeguarding, moving and handling, first aid and basic life support, fire safety, infection control, medication awareness, the Mental Capacity Act and equality and diversity, plus role specific subjects such as dementia care. The exact list depends on your service.
Is dementia training mandatory in care homes?
If you support people living with dementia, then dementia awareness training is expected as part of giving staff the skills for their role. The CQC looks for staff who understand the needs of the people they care for, so dementia training is a sensible and often essential part of your programme.
Do care home staff need first aid training?
Yes. Care settings should have staff trained in first aid and basic life support so they can respond to a medical emergency until help arrives. We deliver first aid and basic life support training on-site as part of a care home programme or as a standalone course.
How often does care home training need refreshing?
Most mandatory subjects are refreshed every one to three years, with high risk skills such as moving and handling and first aid refreshed more often. We can track your renewal dates and remind you before anything lapses, which keeps your training matrix clean for inspection.
Is your training CQC compliant?
Yes. Our care home training is mapped to CQC fundamental standards, and every learner receives a recognised certificate you can keep as evidence. We can review your training matrix and tell you exactly what you need to be inspection ready.
Do you deliver training at our care home?
Yes. We deliver on-site at your home anywhere in the UK, around your shift patterns, so you do not lose staff to off site courses. We can cover several subjects in a single visit to save you time and money.
Can you cover several courses in one visit?
Yes, and most homes prefer this. We can deliver a programme that covers several mandatory subjects across a day or a series of visits, training your whole team to the same standard. Tell us your numbers and we will plan it with you.
What other care training do you offer?
Alongside the core mandatory subjects we deliver dementia care, mental capacity and DoLS, medication, infection control, safeguarding, mental health, and physical intervention and PMVA. Using one provider for the whole picture keeps your training simple and consistent.
