First Aid, Conflict Management, Lone WorkingTrain the Trainer, Education & Training, 

First Aid at Work – 3 Days or 18 Hours

Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience, for example, clerical or engineering staff. The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions. By arrangement the course can be run on non-consecutive days, for example - one day a week over three weeks.

Students are independently examined on the final afternoon of the course. Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years*.

Emergency First Aid at Work L2

Basic Life Support (Annual Refresher)

The Emergency First Aid at Work course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in line with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. The first aid course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate's confidence.

In line with the revised First Aid Guidance issued on 1st October 2009* we are able to offer a half-day annual refresher course that is suitable for those staff who have completed either the three-day First Aid at Work or the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work courses. This is an ideal course to help keep your first aiders updated; it also provides an opportunity for them to ask questions to their instructor and peers.

The number of people working alone is increasing. As technology advances and budgets are cut, more and more organsations are employing lone workers.  As well as those who work alone for the majority of their working time, there is a greater number of people who work alone part of the time.
According the the HSE Lone working staff are defined as someone who "works by themselves without close or direct supervision" and can include home visiting, travelling, working from home or working in a building or office alone.
 
Lone working or Working Alone is changing and we dont just explore then risks from other people we also explore the risks of being isolated at work your emotional wellbeing is paramount and is now being recognised as a significant risk  from lone working This is now involving small businesses working from home or on the road for long periods of time. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is designed to give people the knowledge and confidence to teach in the post 16 education sector. This could be as a trainer in the private training industry or as a teacher/lecturer in further education.

This qualification replaces the old Level 3/4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).

Who's it for?


This course is designed for individuals who would like to start teaching or for those who are already teaching but need a nationally recognised teaching qualification for their career development. 

It is designed for both the private training industry and post 16 educational institutes, and covers the generic teaching skills that are required in becoming an effective teacher/trainer.

 

What's involved


The course is made up of three core units. 

Unit A looks at the role and responsibilities of a trainer/teacher and investigates the skills required to create an effective learning environment.
Unit B is largely practical and each learner is required to plan, deliver and evaluate their own 15 minute micro-teach on a subject of their choice. It focuses on the importance of an inclusive learning environment, meeting individual learning needs.
Unit C investigates the different types of assessment within teaching and how assessment is a pivotal element of successful teaching.

 

What you get out of it


Learners will achieve the nationally recognised Ofqual approved Level 3 Award in Education and Training Certificate. 

The aim is to give learners the confidence and knowledge to teach. By the end of the course learners will understand how to set up an effective and inclusive learning environment. Everyone on the course designs, delivers and evaluates a 15 minute micro-teach, gaining invaluable feedback from their teacher and peers.
